Stuff that fascinated me as a kid

Magnets
Magnifying glasses, binoculars and prisms
Maggi (yes,I loved the whole slurping thing!) and wobbly jello and jujubes

Escalators
Dragonflies, tadpoles, goldfish and caterpillars and flies constantly rubbing their legs together as if to clean up before sitting on a trashcan
Ruminating cows (I still wonder what they think of all day long?)
Stray dogs hurrying along sidewalks (where were they rushing off to?)

Kaleidoscopes created by petrol slicks on water
And of course- Rainbows!

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na

Ok! I will club the next person who tells me that the lyrics of Rock On are so cool! and Farhan's voice is sooooooooo well suited to the rock genre..Poor Dylan and Nickelback! Duh!!!! The movie was fine, heavy on DCH inspiration - a cool gang of friends who split, thanks to a misunderstanding betn a couple of them,an uber- rich unhappy guy(Aamir/Farhan), a happy-go-lucky flirt (Saif/Purab), one intense introvert (Akshaye/Arjun), the whole Goa angle, the dark minimalistic apartment , a terminally ill person who brings these friends back together (Dimple/Luke) etc.. I guess the movie again works coz it again takes folks to back to rose-tinted nostalgia and gives some cultish trends for the younger lot to sport ....I am writing all this now coz I am sick of people who go on and on about the songs ...I am not a rock know-it all but puhlease don't tell me that Farhan sang better than that Chakravyuh guy! I loved the nasal smoothness of Dominique Cerejo 's voice in Ye Tumhari Meri Baatein though! And I loved Arjun's long locks in the last concert!

P.S - On the same ranting note, I also totally disagree with people who put Atif Aslam in the same league as Shaan /KK.. listen to him singing live guys! he can't carry a tune to save the whales!! Himesh is much better!! Phew!!! I feel much better now

Its Moooo

Martin: Do you keep your patients waiting like this?
Frasier: Oh, just the compulsives.

Frasier: It's supposed to say, "Congratulations, Dad."
Deliveryman: There wasn't room.
Frasier: People have written the Declaration of Independence on a grain of rice!
Deliveryman: Not with frosting.

Kenny: There she is. Now, I gotta warn you, Doc, she's uh, in a eelchair-way.
Frasier: Does her handicap preclude her from understanding Pig Latin?

Daphne: I suppose I like my gents more on the manly side. [Looking at the napkin Niles is holding]
Daphne: Is that a little swan you just made?
Niles: No, it was a B-52.

Frasier: Have you any idea of appropriate baseball-watching attire?
Niles: Obviously, you failed to detect the subtle diamond pattern in my tie

Joey - You're smoking again?
Chandler - Well, actually, yesterday i was smoking again, today i'm...i'm smoking still.

"Cheese. It's milk that you chew."
"Crackers. Because your cheese nedds a buddy."
"A grape. Because who can get a water melon in your mouth."
"The phone. Bringing you closer to people who have phones."
"Bagels and doughnuts. Round food, for every mood."

"Pants. Like shorts, but longer."

Phoebe: What am I sitting on?
Chandler: Top of the world? dock of the bay?

Ross: I just got back from the vet.
Chandler: She's not going to make you wear one of those big plastic cones, is she?

Chandler: I got her machine.
Joey: Her answering machine?
Chandler: No, interestingly enough her leaf-blower picked up.

Joey:... it's a moo point
Rachel:... you mean a moot point
Joey:... no no, a moo point ... like a cow's opinion, doesn't matter ... it's moo ...

Gooood Doggie !

Awww! Just got a forward with some really cute doggie pics ..I wish I could have one.. but the only way that could happen was if i worked from home or if I could take my doggie to work ;) .
My dream dogs ? Border Collies (seen in the pic here), Labs and Golden retrievers . Golden retrievers are of course, the glamourous supermodels of the dog world and need more care . But somehow , I don't fancy ones like the Poodle (which btw , I was suprised to learn, is one of the most intelligent dog breeds. Can't say the same about most of its owners though!) or the weird ones like the Chihuahua. That reminds me of Jacques, my neighbour's pet, probably one of the sweetest and dumbest Labs I have ever seen! He doesn't even respond to his own name! However, the one smart thing he does do, is to pick up his bowl at dinner time and run around his keeper, begging for food! He even clangs it loudly on the floor to get the required attention. Cho chweet!

My YumYumTS Days

So I'm back to travelling to work by local train(MMTS)...and inspite of people rolling their eyes, I guess the trick to travelling by train is to catch the right one at the right time (incredibly, there are two trains at Begumpet station just 5 mins apart and one is always jam-packed while the other's empty), ensure you have a first class pass and preferably travel in groups. A newspaper and an iPod do help.
Train journeys are great at times.. It's fun to watch people's reactions when they realise they have accidentally boarded the first class section ..they act like they have stepped on a hot tin roof and jump right out... then there was the time that a cop and sniffer dog(a cute Labrador) got on.. and people would step in , see the dog and act like they encountered E.T. an
d step back on the platform !.. the dog however was nonplussed.. didn't even bother when people stepped on his tail..Then, the other day at the station, I was busy poring over my crossword, when suddenly I realised two urchins on either side of me, intently looking down at my paper like they could help me with 23 Across. They were so cute!

Mushy about Mulshi

Ahh! The rains make me want to run away to the hills.
Last July, our Pune gang hit the hills nearby and it was so much fun.
I guess driving through the fog/mist /clouds (or was it cotton candy?) is best expressed in pics .. so here are a couple..

Hungry Kya???

Ok .. So the only way to get me back to my blog is to screw my sat TV connection and thats what they did- the crazy construction ppl in my building.Of course, the fact that the net hardly worked at home is also a factor, but who wants to know all that...Anyway, right now, all I can think of , is FOOD! I am so so hungry, I cud eat a bear, but will have to bear it until the pasta boils itself and I can dunk it in some ruby red sauce along with some broccoli n peppers ....Phew ..It takes superhuman restraint not to reach for that evil pack of Tim Tams or just warm toasssstt with cold cheesespread on it...Shucks !wish I was back to childhood where I could wolf down loaves of buttered bread without blinking or thinking. But now I'm just trying to eat a "normal" meal instead of all that delicious sinful junk. Ok, its a bit too much..... maybe staring intently at that bubbly pot may make stuff cook faster than the never ending 14 mins that the packet mentions. Sigh!
